We are pleased to invite members to an upcoming event featuring Bettina Paris, a freelance actor, director, writer, theatremaker and producer working across screen and stage in the UK and Europe.

In her address, Bettina will share a personal anecdote from her career journey, using it as a lens through which she will explore how the challenges and roles of an artist closely mirror those encountered in business. Drawing thoughtful parallels, she will reflect on lessons learned and offer insight into how these can be meaningfully adapted within professional environments.

This reflective talk presents creativity as a disciplined and strategic tool: one that drives innovation, resilience, and meaningful connection. At its heart, it is an invitation to consider how the artist’s way of thinking can inform and elevate work across all professional spheres.

Speaker

Bettina Paris – Freelance Actor, Director, Writer, Theatremaker & Producer

Bettina brings a distinctive blend of artistic rigour and entrepreneurial instinct. Born and raised in Malta, she forged her own path from performing on Malta’s theatre stages to creating original, internationally recognised work - navigating uncertainty, limited resources, and high stakes along the way.

She began her professional career as an actor at the young age of four, appearing in the TV miniseries Helen of Troy as Young Cassandra. Recent acting credits across stage and screen include The Assassin (Two Brothers Ltd /Amazon), Charlene (Pellikola), The Good Ship Murder (Clapperboard Studios/Channel 5), Breeders (FX/Sky/Avalon), Here We Go (BBC Studios Comedy Productions), and Sisyphean Quick Fix (Riverside Studios, London/The Pleasance, Edinburgh Festival Fringe ‘24).
As a director, in 2024, she helmed the international staging of Ben Power’s Medea (after Euripides) at Malta’s National Theatre Teatru Manoel, where she was praised for illuminating themes of displacement and xenophobia with clarity and nuance (Times of Malta).

As a writer, her play Sisyphean Quick Fix (“A STAND-OUT MUST-SEE” ★★★★★ – North West End UK) debuted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024 to critical acclaim, where it was awarded Best Play by Theatre Weekly. In 2025, the production secured a three-week run at Riverside Studios in London.

Bettina is deeply committed to creating work that not only entertains but instigates change. Many of her projects are accompanied by partner programmes that amplify the voices and experiences of marginalised communities, often in collaboration with relevant charities. She has raised awareness on resources available, as well as raised money for various charities, including Aġenzija Sedqa, Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs & Alcohol Change UK.

Alongside her creative practice, she holds a degree in Communication Studies and works as a communication techniques role player for professional development. She has trained teams across sectors including professional services, legal, education, hospitality, and iGaming, working with organisations across Europe such as KPMG, Bet365, Kindred, and CEDR UK.

Her experience as both performer and theatremaker offers rich, actionable insight for leaders and teams seeking to harness creativity for tangible business impact.

In this session, Bettina explores how artists operate without fixed blueprints, navigating uncertainty, interrogating assumptions, and transforming challenges into opportunities. Participants will experience firsthand how questioning what feels “given” (an instinctive practice in the arts) can unlock new approaches to complex business challenges.
These insights speak directly to leadership, strategy, and innovation in any professional context. Bettina will also reflect on how the performing arts can serve as a powerful model for purpose-driven work: aligning mission with action, building culture through shared stories, and sustaining resilience through periods of challenge.
Key themes include:

  • Narrative & Storytelling – Using real-world insight and personal experience as stimuli for the creation of original work, and as a marketing tool to connect with audiences
  • Innovation through Constraint – Reframing limitations and failure as catalysts for creative and strategic breakthroughs
  • Multi-role Leadership – Navigating multiple responsibilities while maintaining a long-term vision for your career
  • Entrepreneurship & Negotiation – Applying artistic processes to pitching, fundraising, building long-lasting professional connections and resilience
