MBN UK Director, Perit Charles Saliba hosts SACES delegation for a Green Infrastructure Walk as part of London Archivisit.

As part of SACES’ (Society of Architecture and Civil Engineering Students – University of Malta) London Archivisit 2018 trip, Perit Charles Saliba supported by iAS (http://ias.com.mt), CityScapes (http://cityscapes.org.uk), Biotecture (http://www.biotecture.uk.com), Team London Bridge (https://www.teamlondonbridge.co.uk) and Arup (https://www.arup.com) organised a Green Infrastructure walk on the afternoon of Friday 13 July 2018 for the 16 strong SACES delegation. Starting at City Hall, the group visited Potters Fields (https://pottersfields.co.uk), a rain irrigated living wall, Gibbons Rent (http://www.architecturefoundation.org.uk/programme/2012/gibbons-rent-transformation) and the Greenwood Theatre Pocket Park (http://www.cityplanter.co.uk/zandra-rhodes-designed-pocket-park-opens). The group also had time to relax and stretch their legs while listening to Arup’s presentation on Green Infrastructure which was followed by an engaging discussion on Malta’s current challenges and how Green Infrastructure could be used to address these. Given the lessons learnt by Jack (of ‘All work and no play make Jack a dull boy’ fame), the group finished off the walk with a drink and a bite to eat at Flat Iron Square. In conclusion, Perit Charles Saliba and current SACES President Alannah Xuereb said,

‘We hope to build on this successful visit and make the Archivisit trip an annual event that nurtures links between today’s Maltese UK based professionals and tomorrow’s professionals, the ultimate aim of which is the improvement of our islands’ natural and built environment’
