Panellist

The #15 UK Technology Influencer, she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Science in recognition of her international web science work on inclusion for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) . One of the 250 Founders of Tech City, in 2016 she pivoted her company FlyingBinary to meet the challenge of Brexit and IIoT with spectacular results.

She is recognised as one of the 100 Global Leaders, is a Top Ten Global IoT innovator, and an independent industry analyst for IIoT. An Expert Advisor to the European Commission in a Fire-Starter role for the Future Digital Economy, with specific responsibilities for innovation and improving the health and well being outcomes for 450 million citizens. Top 20 UK Impact entrepreneurs and most influential UK web scientist in 2021, Top 34 IoT Influencers on Twitter, 20 global entrepreneurs to watch, and a UK Smart Cities leader. Shortlisted for a prestigious Cyber Security industry award she was invited to speak in Davos on the future of the Cyber Security Industry.

Globally recognised as the world’s first Smart City Tsar, and a strategic Advisor to the UK Government, Cities lead on Digital Built Britain, Principal UK Expert lead for BSI international team for Technology, Data, Smart Cities and AI. She has recently taken an appointment back in the UKs Cabinet Office to create the Open Standards for the UK Government and is an Expert Advisor to the United Nations for the delivery of the UN 2030 plan.

She founded the Empathy Economy to share the secrets of her global success plan with entrepreneurs via a unique membership offering. The Empathy Economy Online launches in 2021 now the UK has exited from the European Union. It will give entrepreneurs CyberSafe resources to meet the challenges of a post Isolation Economy and transition them to grow their companies in the IIoT.

Panellist

Martin started his career in Cyber security more than 20 years ago, being responsible of setting up the security function in MITA (previously known as MITTS) to protect the Maltese Government Infrastructure.

His role in cyber security progressed from technical to security management. In 2016, Martin, graduated from the University of Malta in Diplomatic Studites. Martin focused his final project on the relationship between Cyber warfare and International law.

For the last decade, Martin was involved in the formulation of the Maltese National Cyber Security Strategy and represented Malta on a number of national, European and international fora on security regulation, applicable laws and policies.

Martin is currently leading the MITA Cyber Threat Intelligence team working closely with the European and international community to collaborate on cyber threat intelligence sharing and be in a position to recommend to operational teams to take proactive protection measures and assisting the Government in the attribution of potential cyber-attacks towards the Maltese Government infrastructure.

Dr. Maria Grazia Vigliotti is the CEO  of Sandblocks Consulting, a company that focuses on auditing code for security purposes.

Her career in computing spans more than twenty years, many as an academic at Imperial College London specialising in writing AI algorithms to aid in cybersecurity and formal code verification at the Institute for Security Science and Technology. She convened and led the development of the cybersecurity strategy for the entire British railway industry and worked on prevention of cryptographic attacks on the European Railway Traffic Management Systems (ERTMS).

She has also advised most of the major players in the UK nuclear industry on smart device security.

She is an advisor at the Industrial Board at the Department of Computing at Imperial College London and an official member of the EU Blockchain Observatory.

Maria is co-author of The Executive Guide to Blockchain (Palgrave MacMillan). The book discussed in a jargon-free way issues around cryptography and cybersecurity for the blockchain.

She holds a PhD in Computing from Imperial College London and has published over thirty papers in peer-reviewed and refereed international academic journals and conferences.

Maria is the Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at Imperial College promoting women in technology and cybersecurity, Maria is a cyber security expert fiercely committed to clearly communicating the business impact to executives from all walks of life.
