Going Tall in Malta: The Boom in High-Rise Developments and Their Environmental Impacts.
Malta is currently going tall, with a rapid increase in the number of high-rise buildings planned in areas such as Paceville and Sliema. While the jury is out on the aesthetic impacts of these proposed buildings, there are also the important issues of economic and environmental impacts that require careful consideration.
As world leaders in sustainable design, RWDI have been influential in the design of the world’s tallest and largest structures. During his talk, Ender Ozkan will describe the sustainable and environmentally friendly design approaches available for tall buildings, with the aim of preserving the natural beauty of Malta.
Ender Ozkan PhD, CEng IMechE is the Vice President of RWDI and is responsible for the firm’s business in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He has over 20 years experience in helping designers achieve sustainable design solutions for tall buildings, stadia, bridges and other large structures around the world. Ender holds a PhD in wind engineering from Johns Hopkins University in USA, and has worked as an Associate at Arup’s Advanced Technology Group for 10 years prior to joining RWDI.
